Blogger or Wordpress: Which is for You?

Are you better to download Blogger or Wordpress to your website? There is a current argument about that although it doesn't take a lot to resolve. My view will soon be known as you read thorough this page, but if you are not familiar with either, and in order that you are able to come to a considered opinion of your own, please check this forum:

Blogger or Wordpress

It is one of the more respected independent sites online that has no axe to grind, and the forum tells its own story about the Blogger or Wordpress debate. I have no idea what it says at this time, since like all forums (is that the plural or should it be fora?) it changes by the minute. So what you see is different to what I saw when I wrote this. I think you understand what I am trying to say.

Blogger is run by Google, and as such, in my opinion, is biased towards Google. I believe that a Blogger blog will always be listed above a Wordpress blog in Google, all other aspects being equal - or will it? I don't know, so I am not commenting on Google's bias towards its own blog. There might be none.

However, there is no doubt in my mind that Blogger is better for you if:

  • You are new to Blogging and have nobody to help you.

  • Your blogs are simple and are intended only to provide information.

  • You don't have a website from which to run your blog.

If that describes you, and you are happy with all that, then stick with Blogger. You can also run Blogger from your own website, but with few advantages that I can see.

Wordpress

Wordpress also offers you the option of having your blog run by the blogging host such as Blogger is run by Google. Wordpress is hosted by Wordpress! However, Wordpress can also be run from your own website, and is preferred if:

  • You are new to blogging but have somebody to help you (such as our Wordpress video tutorial).

  • Your blogs are simple and intended to give information, but you want to make money from them which you can do in several different ways.

  • You have a website, and could do with some help in downloading the software and setting up Wordpress on your site.

  • You want your blog to be uniquely yours, and to use any of the many Wordpress templates available online and the myriad Wordpress plugins available free to you.

  • You want to appear to be a professional blogger and modify your blog to suit you.

  • You want your blogs to look complicated and you to appear an expert blogger, yet for them to be easy for you to maintain.

The Blogger or Wordpress answer should now be coming clearer.

How to Download Wordpress

To download Wordpress you simply go to the donw.oad site and download it - simple. The hard bit comes with what to do after that. However, my Wordpress video tutorial shows you, not only how to download the softer, but also how to set it up and get it working with your own password, and how to allow others to make comments - with their own passwords if you want them to have one.

Learn how to prevent individuals commenting on your blog, and how to install plugins and widgets, of which there are thousands online for you to try.

SO what is it for you? Blogger or Wordpress? It is easy to download Wordpress to your website, so why run it from anywhere else? Check out my Wordpress video tutorial that shows you exactly what to do:
