The Online Business Guide
The online business guide is a guide to what is needed to run a new internet business. If you do not yet have a website then go here:
Affiliate Website Guide
You might prefer a blog, and information on making money from blogs can be found here:
Blogging Profit
All of the links to other websites provided on the online business guide open in new windows so you can easily return to this page while keeping these open. Click on the left hand dash at the top right of each page - 2nd left of the white cross on red background that closes the page. That sends the page down into your bottom bar.
However, you need more than a website, and here are some if the basics you will require. In the online business guide, I will not be including software included with the two web hosting services I have recommended, such as email services, autoresponders, traffic analysis software, etc., since that can be expensive, and you already have it from the web host I recommended. If you have opted for a web host that does not offer these as part of the package, then you must be experienced in internet marketing, and are on the wrong page here.
I strongly advise you to start with
SiteBuildIt.
$299 is unbelievable value for the online business where all you provide is the product and web page - and that's for a full year! That won't even dent a redundancy payout. All web hosting is hired, and you generally pay monthly.
Third Sphere
costs $24.95 monthly, or $299.40/annum.
If you try to do it from scratch you will never get started. Take it from me: I spent over $10,000 before I even started to understand the online business secrets, and in this new internet business guide I am trying to get you to avoid my mistakes. Had I discovered SiteBuildIt when I started, I would have saved a fortune. Please believe me: if you try to do it yourself from scratch, you are more likely to blow your whole pot learning than to succeed.
Thirdsphere is good once you have your first SBI site up and running. It will gradually lead you into a less integrated suite of programs, but one that is still very easy to use once you have learned a bit more about the online business.
In addition to the website package you will need the following:
Make/Receive Payments
There are several different ways to carry out financial transactions, but the major ways are credit card merchants and online e-commerce system. Here are some recommendations:
Online e-Commerce
PayPal is most popular online system. Some don't like it, but they have generally fallen foul of PayPal's terms of service. I have been using it for a number of years without a single problem. The one time I was cheated online by a customer, PayPal resolved it quickly and I got my money.
PayPal accepts payments from a PayPal account balance, or a credit or debit card, so it's quite universal - and free to join, though all merchants charge a % of transaction amounts. PP charge 2.9% for USA to USA payments + 50c, and for UK - USA it is 6.9%. Every merchant charges similar fees, and unless you want checks, there is no way round that.
American customers can also get a PayPal debit card that you can use with your balance in hotels, restaurants, etc., just like an ordinary debit card.
Check out PayPal below, but keep in mind that if you don't use it as one of your options, you will lose a lot of potential customers:
PayPal.
Card Merchants
There are many credit card merchants - most banks provide such a service - but my favorite is 2Checkout or 2CO. That is probably because it comes integrated into Third Sphere (I have 3 SBI sites and 3 TS sites). However, I have never had a problem with it. The joining fee is $49 (none for PayPal) but others can charge hundreds of dollars.
2CO deals in credit and debit card payments and also PayPal. That's all you need for the normal online business. If you offer both of these then the majority will use PayPal (80% with me) and the rest 2CO, so you capture everybody. 2CO transaction fees are 5.5% across the board + 45c.
Check out 2CO Here.
Incidentally, I get a Commission on these merchants: it doesn't affect you financially, but it is an example of affiliate marketing. You, too, can recommend programs you like and can recommend and make money doing so. Affiliate payments are a percentage of the sales price of the product, average around 50%, with the other 50% going to the merchant
.
For credit card merchants the commission is a flat payment, rather than a percentage. Make sure, however, that you only recommend very good products/services or your reputation could suffer. I never promote any product as an affiliate unless I use it myself and love using it! The online business guide that recommends products they don't regularly use might be trying to trick you.

EBay Membership
Not every internet marketer understands the power of eBay. There are many ways to advertise your products, services and websites online, and eBay is one of the least appreciated. The online business with ambition will be using eBay as much as possible, since it has a massive clientele. Here is how eBay can be used:
1. Classified Ads
EBay allows to you sell fixed price goods in their classified ads section. The sale of electronically deliverable goods such as eBooks and software is prohibited on eBay, but all you need do is copy your eBook, software or other electronic product onto a CD and then sell it. Advertise it at a fixed price in eBay Classifieds and just leave it there.
The online business that includes sites such as eBay in its advertising strategy will be more liable to succeed than one that does not.
2. EBay Shops
If you sell multiple products, you can set up an eBay shop, in which you can advertise all your products. You can set prices for each and wait for the sales.
3. About Me Page
EBay offers every seller an About Me page on which they can advertise themselves, their products and even their websites. I advertise my websites here, and switch between them time and again. I never promote more than two sites at one time, since eBay don't like you selling products in competition with itself, but you can do so if you phrase it such ads 'for more information. . .'
Both the above require you to have a product on offer on eBay, but it's easy to offer a CD with a product for sale, and list one every 1 - 10 days.
If you are not already a member, join eBay here:

That's about it really. I could recommend a whole host of eBooks and software, but you are best to stick to that and email me if you have a problem. I have a form below you can fill in if you want to receive emails I send out from time to time to supplement the online business guide, and also occasionally some free products together with stuff I use, and that you should find useful if you can afford it.
Don't just buy software that comes with a load of hype - check with me first and I will give you my opinion. Some stuff is great, but of no use to beginners, while some eBooks might be worth reading, but I could give you the same info free. If I can't I'll tell you. I have no need to say that the online business I run is done so with honesty and integrity, because all my customers and visitors know that.
If you want to get into affiliate marketing, there is only one eBook I can recommend in the online business guide - Rosalind Gardner' Superaffiliate Handbook. I have it and it was expensive when I purchased it at $97 - and it was worth it that price - but you are getting it with a $50 discount at $47. It's a snip and it's well worth it considering what you will earn by applying what you learn.
Rosalind earns over half a million a year using the exact methods she shows you in the book. Get it here:
Superaffiliate Handbook.
All of the software you need to run the online business you want comes with SBI, although if you have a lot if promotional work to do there are some great books on the market. The best I have read is Michael Greens' 'How to Promote a Product', but it is expensive. Great if you can afford the $97 (I paid $127 and it was worth it then) but it might be something to save up for from your online earnings. Have a look here:
Promote a Product
It is very useful to beginners and experts alike, so to help you if you purchase
How to Promote a Product
from this site, I will offer an additional $20 discount. Just email your receipt to discount@onlinenetincome.com and I will pay you $20 by PayPal or check.
Actually, there are many good products online, and there is a site open to members only that offers a daily special at 50% of the regular price or less. I use that for most of my software and eBook purchases now. It's free to join and you would be nuts not to join Deal Dot Com:

Finally, this new online business guide is intended to provide advice to those seeking alternative sources of income, having recently been made redundant or become unemployed for any other reason. The products and services I have recommended are the best that I can think of to make best use of the cash you intend to invest.
